After the rather humbling experience of being told by MNW that they wouldn’t do a reprint of Another Time and Place in spite of a firm order from Angus and Robertson, I’ve now discovered that according to the Macmillan website, I no longer even exist as an author. The book isn’t listed on the MNW website, and my name no longer appears on the Macmillan author list. Looks like my 15 minutes of fame are well and truly over. Bugger!

Hi, Sam
Does that mean you can part company with MNW? (I remember in the contract it says if they don’t keep you in print during the duration then you have grounds to cancel it). If that’s the case and Angus and Robertson are keen to sell it, then perhaps the best bet is to go down the self-publishing route, or maybe find a small-press publisher in Oz. By the sheer fact A and R want Another Time and Place means you should persevere on this. It might lead to opportunities elsewhere, say in New Zealand. And then your 15 minutes of fame may well continue!
Anyway, hope it all goes well…

Hi Matt - how’s it going? Good to hear from you.
I did think along similar lines about the possibility of parting company with MNW, but reading the fine print it’s not an option because technically the book is still available (remember those pesky e-books?), which is irritating to say the least. I mean, who buys e-books anyway?
Hopefully, one day, when something else I’ve written becomes mega-successful, another publisher will want to buy the paperback rights…
