Imperial War Museum

Yesterday I went to London for the day to do some research for my play in the Reading Room at the Imperial War Museum. It’s years since I’ve been there and it’s every bit as impressive as I remembered. The Reading Room itself is hidden away upstairs and is absolutely beautiful with a big circular table in the middle and a reverent hush amongst the researchers. After I’d finished reading I spent a couple of hours just wandering in the museum itself and could have stayed longer. So much information! I just wished my 7-year-old son had been with me - he would have loved it too.

Thanks Michelle - it was a pleasure and I’m really happy that you liked the book.

Yes - you should definitely get to the Imperial War Museum if you can. Of course the World War displays are fascinating, but there’s so much else besides - the children’s war, post 1945 conflicts, espionage, tanks, planes, artillery …

They also have a branch at Duxford near Cambridge called the American Air Museum that has a B17, which I’d love to see. Maybe I’ll get there one day!
