Samantha Grosser

Last night I went to hear Tracy Chevalier talk about her new book, Burning Bright, at Bristol Grammar School. It was a very grand affair with musicians and wine and about 250 people, but Tracy wasn’t grand at all - she came across as friendly and approachable, and her insights into her books and the process of writing were fascinating.

She’s a writer I very much admire - I like the tangents that she takes on historical moments, and I like the way she can evoke such atmosphere and character in such simple, elegant prose.

I came away feeling very inspired.
