The Big Week
My first two book events went off swimmingly. Wednesday I was at Bristol Grammar School, giving a talk to a small group of teachers who were extremely welcoming and very interested in the book and my writing. We had tea and Kate’s home-made lemon cake and I sold 10 books which really was the icing on the cake. The Evening Post were supposed to come but cancelled at the last minute which was a shame. Still, maybe they’ll get around to doing a piece eventually.
So I was feeling pretty confident for the party last night. Will came down from London and was very impressed by Clifton Bookshop. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, including me. Funnily, I wasn’t that nervous - I guess I’m already getting used to speaking in front of people, and I actually enjoyed the reading. Lots of people bought books and it’s a strange and lovely feeling to know that Tom and Anna’s story is now coming alive for a whole lot of people.
Here I am signing, overseen by six-year-old manager, Jake.
