Well, with one day left until publication, I thought I’d better introduce myself to a few more local bookshops. So I put on some make up and made a bit more effort with my clothes than is usual and trotted off towards town.

I visited Waterstones in the Galleries a couple of weeks ago - they have a local authors’ bookshelf and seemed quite enthusiastic about including Another Time and Place. Today was less successful - it took an age (and a fair bit of confusion) at Borders to speak to someone who might be able to order a couple of copies. I left not quite sure if it would appear on their shelves or not. Blackwell’s were friendly and told me the buyer was busy but would call me later. Still waiting. Waterstones on College Green were also friendly and offered to put one copy on their shelf. Not exactly the mass market interest I was hoping for, so I consoled myself by buying some earrings for the party next week.
